Almanac of the Anglo-Saxon Calendar
A new almanac for the current year will appear here soon.
The almanac is organised by the months in the Anglo-Saxon calendar and shows the following details:
-
Number of the day in the current month
-
Day of the week
-
Events, festivals, holidays etc.
-
Sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset times for the latitiude of 57 degrees north of the equator and the longitude of 2 degrees west of the Greenwich meridian, courtesy of the Astronomical Applications Department of the US Naval Observatory.
-
Number of the day in the current lunation, i.e. since the last new moon. This number is called the lune, and in this almanac the sequence begins on the day of each new moon, if it falls before noon local time. If the new moon falls after noon then the first lune begins the following day. Moon phase symbols mark the primary phases of the moon, and the letters "a" and "p" indicate the lunar apogee and perigee. Moonphases are correct for the GMT time zone.
-
The equivalent date in the Gregorian calendar.
