Just got back from Lanzarote, and on Saturday night I got a wonderful view of the crescent moon alongside Venus.

Snow Moon
The second month of the Old English lunar year. Leads up to the period of Lent, which brings the season of Winter to a close. Look out for Groundhog Day on 2nd February, when a prediction of the weather for the coming six weeks will be made. Astronomical springtime begins on 5th February. The Pagan Sabbat of Imbolc is related to these events and, although it is commonly celebrated on the evening of 31st January, its actual date may be any time in the first week of February.
