I have finally got to grips with Linux. I have an older laptop (4 years old) which had been a real pain to use since I had to reinstall Windows at the tail end of last year. After booting up it would lock for several minutes while the fan would blow at top speed, very noisily. It was spoiling the use of the computer and I was set to replace it with a new one.
